Sales / Event Specialist
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Our Sales/Event Specialist (SESs) are an integral part of our team whose primary function is to generate profitable sales from the rental of event related products. These products include, but are not limited to, tents, tables, chairs, china, glassware, vintage rentals, and linens. SEPs should recommend rental equipment and accessories to assist clients in meeting their event needs. SEPs should communicate the rental equipment and services contracted to all department managers to ensure all details of the events are covered. SEPs should look to up-sell clients to achieve the highest profit margin. Our client's events include weddings, corporate events, graduations, showers, bar/bat mitzvahs, and much more. JOB DUTIES:
• Primarily responsible for assisting clients with coordination of their events utilizing Connecticut Rental Center equipment
• Work with clients to provide on-site survey inspections and design event plans
• Produce detailed computer generated layouts of the event
• Inspect the property looking for utility markers and obstacles, identify location of any underground systems and calling CBYD if necessa1y
• Coordinate obtaining any necessary permits for the event
• Discuss event design with Crew Leader staff
• Determine final tent plan; aid tent crew and warehouse support vvith questions regarding tent and related equipment
• Supervise the on-site placement of rented items
• Communicate all event details with staff to ensw·e a smooth event
• Maintain open commw1ication with sales staff and management to make recommendations for purchase of new inventory items
• Assist in maintaining and updating p1ice list and recommend changes to General Manager
• Provide computer aided quotes according to established procedures
• Coordinate with outside services including florists, bakers, caterers and event staff if requested by the client
• Prepare and process contracts
• Contact clients prior to the event to verify delivery and pick up times and coordinate necessaiy changes
• Follow up with the client per company policy including, but not limited to reviews and event pictures
• Maintain updated record of event inventory and event equipment reservation files
• Assist in store advertising and with creating store promotions and
displays in consultation with the Vice President
• Perform other duties as requested
WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Work will be performed in both ai1office setting and outside
• Will be exposed to outside elements while conducting site inspections and meeting with clients
• Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time
• May have exposure to chemicals, including but not limited to gasoline, diesel fuel, propane, kerosene, and cleaning solvents
• Some Night/ Weekend work may be required
EDUCATION, SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:
• Minimum of two years experience in sales or event planning is preferred but not required. Compensation based on experience.
• Must have high school diploma or equivalent GED; an associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred
• Must maintain a professional personal appearance.
• Must possess sales and customer relation skills.
• Must be able to use mathematics to solve problems.
• Computer knowledge is preferred especially Word, Excel, a11d CAD. Training on rental software will be provided.
• Must be able to speak English clearlyand write legibly. The ability to speak other languages is a plus.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively
• Must pass company drug screen.
• Must maintain an acceptable attendance record.
• Must have a full range of motion and dexterity.
• Maintain a cooperative working relationship with co-workers.
• Must be able to maintain a high degree of patience and offer constructive criticism when necessary.
• Must be willing to sign a non-compete agreement
